Alwyndor understands the value of providing respite to allow carers a break from the role of carer, that's why we offer high-care respite. Our respite service is usually offered in 2 week blocks which allows the right amount of time to meet individual care needs and goals, while providing the short break and refresh that is sometimes needed. As a high-care respite provider we are unable to take bookings in advance, however we do welcome applications to our waiting list for who would consider high-care respite within 24 hours of notification.
An application form and an Aged Care Assessment (ACAT) with a current high-care respite approval must be provided to Alwyndor to be placed on our respite waiting list. To enquire further about respite care or obtain an application form, please contact our Customer Liaison Team on 8177 3200 or click here to our enquiry form.
Family are asked to assist you with your laundry while you are at Alwyndor on respite. This will help to avoid un-labelled clothing being misplaced. A laundry basket will be provided in the room for your convenience.
What is provided in the room?
For your stay with us, you will be in a room with a bed, private en-suite, bedside cabinet, chair, tv and built-in wardrobe with a lockable drawer for valuables. There are no telephone connections in our respite rooms.
What is the cost?
The cost of respite is a daily fee set by the Government. This fee is currently 85% of the single aged care pension. It covers your accommodation and meals etc, but does not include medication, incidentals or laundry. If you choose to bring in electrical items, they will need to be tagged and tested by our electrician and will incur a charge of $5.00 per item.
What to bring?
Please ensure that you provide a complete and accurate medication list signed by your doctor. Staff will provide a blank chart for the doctor to complete. Respite residents are required to use our pharmacy during the stay. Please bring clothes, toiletries and a few personal items that may make your stay more enjoyable, eg. radio, photos, books.
